WHAT ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT?
Adelaide Hills Logging are committed to the environmental resource recovery from forestry operations. Whether your tree harvest is wind break trees, plantation or fire damaged we can offer environmentally sensitive recycling of almost all the harvested products. With the Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu Peninsula's small plantations often being unmanaged and the abundance of windbreak trees, the harvested timber often does not meet saw log specifications. Selected higher value logs meeting specifications are transported to local mills for processing. The lower grade timber goes into the local mills & landscape supply processors for Timber packaging eg pallets & cratesWood shavings & saw dust for the poultry industryLandscape products such as pine bark & mulchFirewood (this is for blue gum harvest only)

WHAT WILL THIS COST ME?
Adelaide Hills Logging's equipment for felling, harvesting and extraction of trees are purpose built forestry machines in excess of 28 tonnes with significant operating and maintenance requirements. A specialised oversize low loader is required to transport the equipment, including an oversize escort vehicle in some cases. Being purpose built for tree harvesting the production rates in a plantation site can be in excess of 100 trees per hour, (subject to plantation, tree dimensions, log lengths required and terrain). Each site is individually inspected and the equipment establishment cost is calculated for the required equipment to complete the harvest works. A detailed quote is then forwarded that outlines the services, and anticipated costs associated. Where the harvested timber is anticipated to of a higher quality meeting saw log specification a dollar per tonne royalty for the log harvested can then offset the establishment costs and then commence a return the forest owner. Generally a plantation of greater than 1 hectare containing Pinus Radiata or Blue Gum with a diameter of greater than 250mm at 1.5m above ground is required to start to return a dividend to the forest owner.
